Hi Everyone,
You have a game this Saturday at Jellie Park against QEII under 12’s, please make sure that you are on poolside ready to get in the pool at 3.00pm, the quicker you are ready the more game time you will get.
Your training time has changed to 3.00 to 4.00pm on Saturday still at Jellie Park.
Behind the scenes- I have contacted Hutt water polo club in Wellington to see if they could get pool space for you to go up and play some games against them, I have also contacted Otago.
We are looking for a team manager for the under 12’s, it involves sending e-mails, keeping players and parents up to date etc, helping on trips (a bit like helping out on school camps) if you are interested please see me.
Swim-Fit- make sure that you get down to the swim fit training on a Sunday morning 10.30 to 11.45 at Wharenui Pool
If you have any friends that want to give water polo a go get them to contact me.
Thanks
Rory Hamilton

Hi Everyone
It is great to see so many players down at trainings, it is good to excellent ethics at training, it makes the coaching much easier and more fun.
It is very important that you keep up with your flexibility and strength exercises ½ an hour before you get in the pool. This time is part of your training
and not a chance for a chat with your mates, by all means talk while you workout , but do not stand around and talk, we do not do it in the pool - do not do it
during warm up!! - these sessions will do 2 things that I need from you
- Makes you stronger and more agile
- Stops you getting shoulder injuries- that means that you can play water polo longer.
Black warm up band are available for $5.00 see me (Rory)
Under 16
We have just got confirmation that we have been invited down to Dunedin for a tournament with Otago and Southland for under 16 only, as a build up for the nationals,
if you want to be considered for nationals I would strongly advise that you go on this trip.
- We will be leaving on Saturday 11th June and returning the next day Sunday the 12th.
- You will be billeted
- We are driving
- You must tell your coach if you are available for selection by this Tuesday at training
- Cost TBA - should have costs by next week
- Parents are very welcome to come on any trip.
Under 16 nationals- time to start thinking about these, they are on the 17th of July to the 20th July in Auckland for the boys and girls are from the 24th to the 27 of July in Rotorua.
Under 14
You will be going to the same trip as the under 16 later in the year. Keep up the good work on getting to both sessions this week we will be looking "marking your player"
and how to counter attack
Under 12
You have been outstanding with you enthusiasm at training, tomorrow you will be looking at tactics and understanding water polo, so that you can understand more of the game and why and what happens during a game.
We are looking for a manager for this team, if you are interested please see me.

Hi Everyone,
What a great day down at the pool, we had the under 16's training from 10.30 to 12.00 and then the first round of "mini polo" it was good to see that some of the under 16's
helped out by coaching some of the mini polo teams and some training of our under 7's.
Under 12 (new age group starting)
Starting in term 2 from the 7th of May we are just ironing out the last of the training time this is what your training could look like
- Jellie Park-Saturday 3.00pm to 4.00pm - This will be a skills session
- Wharenui –Sunday 11.00am to 12.00am - This will be a skills/swim session
With regular games against other teams, it will be important to make both sessions if you can.
UNDER 14
This is what we are possibly doing for term 2, I want to get you guys in the pool to start thinking about water polo,
getting used to handling the ball and I have very high expectations of this age group this year
- Jellie Park-Saturday 3.00pm to 4.00pm - This will be a skills session.
- Wharenui –Sunday 11.00am to 12.00am - This will be a skills/swim session.
Under 16/18
We are getting good numbers from the girls; the boys need to get down to training as we are going to division 1 nationals which was discussed at our meeting last Sunday.
The girls are looking very strong with a number of new players coming on board, positions for places are not guaranteed. Your possible training times are as follows
- Tuesday Jellie Park from 8.00pm
- Saturday Jellie Park from 4.00pm
- Sunday Wharenui from 10.30am cross training/swim training
THIS SUNDAY THE 17/04 BRING YOUR TRAINERS/SANDSHOES/RUNNERS cross training this Sunday you will also need you togs.

Hi Everyone,
Great to see so many numbers at training over the last 2 weeks,
there has been a great improvement in the skills of everyone from
the players that have been playing for a number of years through to
the guys that are just starting out in the sport.
From now on trainings will be split into 2 sections, so that I
can structure training to individual age groups and gender as the
under 16's will concentrate on different skills and drills than the
under 14's.
Swim Fit - if you are not squad training please let me know and I
will get a swim program drawn up for you, it is your responsibility
to be fit for water polo.
For the tri-Series in Dunedin we will aim to get as many teams as
possible to play, more information on times and dates later.
Please do not hesitate to give me a call (383 0458 or (027) 488
9180) or drop me an e-mail (
).
